Learn Global Business Insight with MExperience

Reed Tradex, the organizer, would like to take this opportunity to express gratitude to all of the speakers and participants of MExperience event on February 26, 2019, at BHIRAJ hall 1, BITEC, Bangkok. The delegates at the seminar received valuable insights and knowledge from Asst. Prof. Anusorn Tamajai, Ph.D., Asst. Prof. Piti Srisangnam, Ph.D., and Mr. Chawat Trangadisaikul. Below are summary of key points addressed during the seminar.

This year, the world economy will experience a slight slowdown due to various factors such as BREXIT, which will affect certain industries. We must continue to closely monitor other factors in the country, period, the industries we are in, our competitiveness, and our adaptability in times of change.

Thailand and ASEAN region are strategically located at the center of the world economy, which is considered as our advantage. However, to sustain this strategic advantage, continual developments and resiliency cultivation through technologies will be necessary.

Disruptive technology will change consumer behavior. The automotive industry will need to gravitate towards electric vehicle (EV). The manufacturing process must be environmental friendly. Thai auto-parts industry is considered a strong sector amidst changes; however, it needs to become more transformative through the use of technologies that continue to evolve rapidly and greatly.

Thai industrialists should get serious about technology transfer as well as research and development. Clusters and collaborations should be created so as to enable new development of innovations. We must keep abreast of information and analyse it in order to be able to forecast occurrences more accurately to anticipate impacts so that we can timely respond.

Asst. Prof. Piti mentioned the widely famous management guide book by Miyamoto Musashi named “The Book of Five Rings (Go Rin no Sho)” which every Japanese business executive must read. The book offers business strategies and approaches that are described through five elements; the first element being Earth which is depicted as the aptitude that one must possess in one’s own field of business. The second is water which suggests that one be flexible in accordance to business circumstances. Next, wind, one should know one’s opponents and real needs of customers then burn one’s competitors like fire. The last one is the Book of Void, self-realization of when to stop if you cannot achieve the mission you set out to conquer.

The era of Industry 4.0 requires industrialists to be adaptable than ever. We need to invest in technology including Data, Hardware, and Peopleware. Information, technology upgrades and skillful workforce are necessary. Business owners must get the basics right; we must get our company structure straightened out and sharpen the skills of our people. Those who can work CNC machines will be able to work the robots; the transformation will be able to be realized within one or two years.
